Coronation statement

In the build-up to the Coronation, I have been reminded time and again of the deep understanding and passion that His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen Consort possess, not just for global environmental issues, but in particular for the fortunes of rural Scotland and the livelihoods and communities it supports.

So even as we look ahead to a day of historical significance and ancient traditions, I’m mindful that the enormous contemporary and future challenges we face in striving for a truly prosperous and sustainable natural economy will be a priority throughout the new reign. I wish everyone involved with proceedings at Westminster Abbey a very happy occasion.
