Animal behaviour & welfare
Working to understand and interpret the behaviour of managed animals and the impact on animal welfare.
At SRUC, we're developing novel methods to understand, assess, and interpret the behaviour and emotions of managed animals; approaches to understanding the impact of human behaviour in interactions with animals; and methods to bring about behaviour change for a positive impact on animal welfare. Because we know that animal behaviour and welfare are essential to both our daily interactions with companion animals and wildlife as well as being a major area of public concern as production systems change and the ethics of food production become more important.
