Negative: <30%
Positive: =/>30%
F. hepatica antibody can be detected from two to four weeks post infection and will persist while the animal remains infected. Following parasite death detectable antibody can persist for up to 10 months. This test is best used as an indication of group exposure to liver fluke and can be useful in animals in their first grazing season. Tests such as faecal examination for fluke eggs/coproantigen can be used to provide information on whether active infection is present.
