Interpretation of PI3 Serology (ELISA)
Positive: >/= 10%
Negative: <10%

Single samples only indicate exposure to infection, but give no indication of when this occurred and therefore cannot be used to diagnose the cause of pneumonia outbreaks. Maternal antibody is likely to make a significant contribution to the titres in animals aged less than 4 months and may inhibit seroconversion. This makes single samples in cattle of this age of even less diagnostic value.
