SRUC

For a sustainable future

Our vision:

To be a global tertiary powerhouse, a place-based university college working collaboratively to build a sustainable future for the natural economy.

Our strategy

Our mission:

We will define what tertiary education means in the 21st century. We will create a high-performing innovation and skills ecosystem that powers a natural capital-based economy. We will help to address major global challenges of climate change; food, water, and energy security; and biodiversity loss. We will drive imaginative new ways of working between business, government, communities, and academia.

Our strategy

Our purpose:

To deliver sustained impact and innovation in the natural economy and create a sustainable future for our staff and students, communities, business, and the environment, in Scotland and globally.

Our strategy

Our history

Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) was established in 2012 through the merger of the Scottish Agricultural College (SAC) with Barony, Elmwood and Oatridge Colleges. Through these institutions, we can trace our lineage back over 100 years.

But of course, our roots go back a lot further than that.

Our history

Our work

SRUC is a progressive organisation with the skills, resources, and passion to address and solve many of the key challenges our natural economy faces. A key part of tackling these challenges involves investment in major projects to develop the infrastructure, whether physical or technological, required to undertake cutting-edge research and provide a world class teaching environment in our sector.

Major projects

Our success

From award-winning programmes, staff, students, research, and more, at SRUC we have a lot to be proud of.
