Winner of the 2023 Diversification Award

About Jenny:

In 2017 Jenny and her husband sold everything they owned and moved into a caravan to pursue their dream of farming to produce high quality Scottish produce. The dream started with stocking the farm with native sheep and cattle, followed by a leap into gin distilling, which is now award winning. As the demand for local produce grew, they opened a farm shop selling their own beef and lamb whilst giving other local producers an outlet. An old farm cottage was renovated into a luxury holiday let to engage with the rise in staycations, and a second holiday let is now also available. The latest venture, inviting the public to get involved in the lambing shed, has been hugely popular. If you want to get married on the farm, there is a place for that too!

What the judges said:

Jenny has built a great little business from a standing start. To have staked all that you have on your dream is such a wonderful story, and Jenny has never settled not to achieve. All strands of the business are so well thought through, very high quality and beautifully marketed. Watch this space – so much has been achieved already, but clearly Jenny doesn’t stand still.

What Jenny said:

“Getting an award is special for us. It’s great to be recognised as a first-generation farmer doing things a wee bit differently in agriculture. So, to be recognised with this award, we’re really proud of it.”
