Donald Fraser
Farm Ness

Winner of the 2023 New Entrant Award
About Donald:
In 2020, Donald, and his partner Joanna, established the brand Farm Ness. Initially opening a farm shop to provide a source of local produce to help reduce food miles, followed by the addition of a play park with animals providing a destination experience for customers. The use of Farm Ness as a brand has been very effective in helping establish the business and the logo has good visual impact on signage, social media and gift products sold in the well stocked farm shop. Donald and Joanna’s journey was documented on Series 5 of the BBC’s This Farming Life, which you can view on iPlayer.
What the judges said:
“Excellent example of new entrant with strong vision. Built on strong family traditions but establishing a new brand and future thinking approach whilst working collaboratively with others in their environmental ‘cluster.’”
What Donald said:
“This award means a lot. It gives us a wee bit of recognition for all the hard work we’ve been doing here and it’s a nice pat on the back that someone’s seeing it and thinking that it’s a good thing that we’re doing.”
