Churches

A number of Christian churches exist across Aberdeen, offering a welcoming space for students to connect spiritually, meet others from similar backgrounds, and find support during their time in Scotland.

King’s Church is part of Assemblies of God Great Britain, a movement of Pentecostal churches that believes in the authority of the Bible, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the importance of living in love and action.

Trinity Aberdeen is part of the International Presbyterian Church with a fellowship community that welcomes newcomers of all ages and stages of life from a variety of church backgrounds, or none.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Aberdeen has a number of churches throughout Aberdeen. St. Mary's Cathedral in Huntley Street has an African Choir

Mosques

In Aberdeen, a total of 7 mosques serve the local Muslim community. These religious institutions play a crucial role in offering spiritual guidance, prayer services, and community support for Muslims residing in the area. They serve as central points for worship, religious education, and communal gatherings, reflecting the diversity and multicultural fabric of Aberdeen.

Hindu temples

Aberdeen Hindu Association (AHA) is run by a group of dedicated volunteers in the North East of Scotland and guided by its vision to work towards 'Truth, Wisdom and Bliss' with celebrations, religious festivals and cultural and educational activities.

Gurdwaras

Aberdeen Sikh Sangat is a local Sikh charity based in Aberdeen. Its main aim is to help spread the word of Guru Nanak across the North East of Scotland. It also offers Gurmukhi, Kirtan, and Tabla classes, and actively organises and participates in various community service initiatives that aim to make a positive impact on society and foster a greater sense of compassion and solidarity.  

Buddhist centres

The Varapunya Meditation Centre is a Buddhist monastery and a centre for the study and practice of Meditation in Aberdeen and for the teaching and practice Buddhist approach of how to live in peace. You don't have to be a Buddhist or convert to Buddhism to go to the Varapunya Meditation Centre to learn meditation or Buddhist studies. 

The Aberdeen Buddhist Group is an independent local Buddhist group run by its members with weekly meet-ups for meditation, tea, and discussion in a serious but non-dogmatic way. Meetings are open to everyone.
