This year’s Graduation ceremonies will be held on Tuesday 26 August 2025.
As well as graduating HN and Degree students, we will be celebrating the success of taught postgraduate degree students who have received awards this academic year.
Graduation Timetable
There will be two graduation ceremonies on Tuesday 26 August 2025 in The Bute Hall, Main Building, University of Glasgow.
Full running orders for the ceremonies can be found below:
HN Graduation Ceremony:
8:30am - registration opens
10:30am - students to be seated
11am - ceremony begins
12:30pm - ceremony ends
PG/Degree Graduation Ceremony:
11:30am - registration opens
2pm - students to be seated
2:30pm - ceremony begins
4:15pm - ceremony ends
Preparing for graduation
Those students who are eligible to graduate in 2025 have been sent a link to the Student Portal, which is now open. You will need to select the ‘My End of Year Intentions’ tab, complete all forms and indicate your choices.
The deadline is 12 May at 12pm. If you have received an email in relation to the Graduation on 26 August, please go to the portal and make your choices. Eligibility to graduate will depend on successful completion of your programme of study and there being no outstanding funds owed to SRUC.
This will include tuition fees, any accommodation debt (where applicable), library fines, and any borrowed books or equipment.
Degree registered students who have to undertake re-sits will not be eligible to graduate at the August 2025 ceremony.

Gown hire
All graduating students are reminded that they must hire a gown and hood. Complete information on gown hire can be found here. Please note that gowns will be available to hire from Ede and Ravenscroft from 1 June 2025. It is recommended that you do not reserve and pay for gown hire until your qualification outcome is known. Gowns may be hired up to three weeks in advance of the ceremony (i.e. Monday 4 August 2025). It is recommended that you book well in advance of this to ensure availability.

Dress code
Graduation dress code is formal with dark trousers and jacket, skirt or suit with white shirt or blouse, white or dark dress and dark shoes or boots. If you wish, national dress (for example a kilt) may be worn. Please note that due to security concerns, no bags larger than an A4 sheet of paper will be allowed into the venue. Remember your day with StageClip
We offer all graduands free use of StageClip, a service which records award acceptances and creates individual personalised videos. These make for excellent keepsakes for you and your family, and for you to share your moment more widely. To opt-in to StageClip, be sure to select ‘Yes’ in the Graduation portal when prompted and provide a personal email address
Guests
We offer two complimentary places for guests to attend. Additional places for guests can be applied for on the portal and allocations will be made in early August dependent on the number of students attending as seat numbers are restricted. The cost for these additional guests is £15 per person.
Photography
A portrait photography service will run on the day through Tempest Photography. Further information will be made available in due course.
Graduation Brochure keepsake
All students have been given the opportunity to have their names published in the Graduation Brochure which they will receive on Graduation Day. Additional copies can be requested by contacting communications@sruc.ac.uk. Should you wish to have your name added to the brochure, please click 'Yes' when at the requisite stage in the graduation portal.

Filming
The SRUC Graduation is a public event and there will be photography and filming during the ceremonies and outside following the ceremonies. If this causes concern please email graduation@sruc.ac.uk.

Courtesy coaches will be available from each campus. Faculty Offices will be in touch with you nearer the time of the ceremony to confirm details.
Lomond the Highland Cow
Back by popular demand, our huggable Highland Cow mascot, Lomond, is available to purchase at graduation or can be pre-ordered for collection on the day or for home delivery by completing the online form. Not only is Lomond a wonderful souvenir of a special day, but the profits from every sale will benefit a charity of your choice. Choose from the SSPCA, Scottish Wildlife Trust or RSABI.
