Sustainability, conservation and protecting the environment are now of prime importance.

SRUC is a specialist, land-based institution with a vision to be the leader for innovation and sustainable development in the rural sector, with expertise in a wide range of subject areas which feed in to the sustainability agenda.

With ever-increasing demands on our natural resources from recreation, conservation and energy generation, as well as the impacts of traditional land uses such as agriculture and forestry, there’s a clear need for graduates with a broad understanding of the relevant issues, and the growing range of careers open to them.

SRUC focuses on solving the global challenges facing the planet, including climate change, biodiversity and access to nutritious food and clean water. By focusing on the sustainability of our natural economy, SRUC will strive to make a world of difference: delivering economic, social and environmental benefits for all, both locally across Scotland, the UK, and beyond.

Apprenticeships

Skills Development Scotland Modern Apprenticeship (MA) and Technical Apprenticeship (TA) programmes offer individuals and employers a package of Vocational Training designed to meet the demands of today’s land-based industries as well as nationally recognised qualifications, equivalent to NC up to HND/Degree level.
