Health Management for Game Birds

Description:
The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of the game bird industry and cover the major infectious diseases and management issues that affect the health and welfare of game birds. It is designed to provide the veterinary practitioner with the knowledge and practical skills to be able to advise clients on prevention and control of these diseases and to advise on best management practice and responsible dispensing.

- Principles of rearing birds and game bird management
- Role of the vet
- Game bird disease (early rearing, 10 days +, release pens)
- Notifiable disease
- Practical session including post mortem examination, sampling, diagnosing protozoal infections
