The Scottish Smallholder Festival is a not for profit event run by a charity Smallholding Scotland, which was established to represent and promote small farming across Scotland. It is staffed in the main by volunteers.
The Scottish Smallholder Festival is the annual showcase for small farming and rural life in Scotland. It is held every year and this year will be at the Royal Highland Centre on the 18th October.
It is not just for smallholders, it is also for farmers, crofters, people interested in rural life, foodies, craftspeople, growers, land reformers, regen and sustainability advocates, new entrants and agritourism businesses.
For 2025, the Scottish Smallholder Festival will once again mix together high level livestock competition in sheep, pigs and goats; 13 breeds of horse and pony in the equine parade, a full programme of seminars and demonstrations across 6 venues within the Highland Hall, as well as a full trade and craft area and great food from small food outlets alongside stalls offering home made products from farms and crofts in the ‘smallholder market’.
