Trainee Assistant Farm Manager
Company: Gascoyne Estates
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
Location: Cranborne, Dorset
Date posted: 29 July 2025
Apply before: 24 October 2025
The Job:
Due to the retirement of a long standing and valued member of the team, we are looking for a progressive and enthusiastic Trainee Assistant Farm Manager. The successful candidate will play an important, valued and active role in the farm team and more widely across the estate. This role may suit a graduate with experience of working on farms or someone who is looking to progress their career. Cranborne Farms occupies over 3,000 acres of largely chalk soils producing combinable crops and grass. We widely utilise regenerative farming practices and conservation principles to build soils and ecosystems complementing food production. Currently we operate a rotation of wheat (milling and feed), malting winter and spring barley, peas, and oats alongside several niche cropping trials and a grazing partnership which brings 500 head of cattle fully integrated into the arable enterprise. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take on more responsibility over time, alongside machinery operation, and will have a clear development plan over the coming years for a role in farm management. Cranborne is a friendly and motivated team. The successful applicant will also be involved with the wider Estate and will play an active role in team meetings having input on wider land management decisions.
