SRUC ranked second in UK for Animal Science and Agriculture
SRUC has been ranked second in the UK for Animal Science and Agriculture in The Guardian University Guide 2027.
The ranking places SRUC ahead of a number of leading UK universities with an overall Guardian score of 89.4.
SRUC scored particularly strongly for student satisfaction with teaching (80.9), career prospects (71) and student continuation (88.2).
The Guardian University Guide ranks universities by subject using a range of measures designed to reflect the student experience, including teaching, feedback, student-to-staff ratios, entry requirements, career prospects and continuation.
The result highlights SRUC’s strength in delivering education across animal science and agriculture, combining academic study with practical learning and links to industries in which graduates go on to build their careers.
SRUC offers a wide range of courses across animal science, agriculture and related subjects, including BSc (Hons) Applied Animal Science, BSc (Hons) Animal Welfare Science, BSc (Hons) Agriculture, HND Agriculture and HND Rural Animal Health.

SRUC’s 89.4 score puts it ahead of the University of Bristol (81.7), Queen’s University Belfast (75.9). Anglia Ruskin (68.3) and the Royal Veterinary College (67.3). Harper Adams University, another institution with a strong focus on Agriculture and related subjects, ranked eighth in the UK.
